What do you think of when someone starts to talk about the Beavers? The local University? Or the engineers of the animal world?
What you may think is just a cute ordinary beaver is actually quite an extraordinary creature! They are so much more than just a large rodent with funny orange teeth and a big flat tail. These remarkable animals are truly the superheroes of the world’s wetlands. You see, beavers have what some call Chainsaw Teeth, Unstoppable Fur, an Incredible Scuba Head and Paws of Power! Beavers use their specially designed anatomy to fell trees and build dams and lodges. They are constantly cutting material with their long, sharp teeth and moving it with their powerful legs and rudder-shaped tail. And in no time flat these busy builders can change an entire landscape. Scientists have come up with a name for the beavers, and other creatures, who keep their surrounding ecosystem and all its inhabitants happy and healthy. They are called a Keystone Species. Please have FUN while you explore our learning page all about this amazing animal. We have provided links for Videos, Read-aloud Books, Activities, and Fun Facts all about this incredible Wetland Warrior! DOWNLOADABLE WORKSHEETS:
